The Foreign Ministry condemned a terror attack carried out by extremist gunmen in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, leaving 20 hostages killed.
Security forces freed 13 hostages, killed six terrorists and arrested one during the crisis that took place in a café.
Egypt extends its deepest condolences to the victims' families and wishes speedy recovery to the injured, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Egypt stands by the government and people of Bangladesh against sinful terrorism, the spokesman said, urging international efforts to combat terrorism, its causes and funding sources.
