Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Jarwan denounced the US Congress approval of the legislation known as the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism”, saying it contradicts with the principle of sovereignty enjoyed by each country under the international law and the UN Charter.
In a statement Wednesday, Jarwan said the bill contradicts with the foundations and principles governing relations between states as it allows the interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
The bill would allow families of the victims of the September 11 terror attacks to sue the government of Saudi Arabia in US courts.
He warned that the application of such a bill would increase tensions among states and undermines the current international war against terrorism.
He urged the Arab League and Arab countries to join hands to stand against such agendas that only meant to foment tensions in the Arab region.
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act," known as JASTA, on Friday but the White House has threatened to veto the measure.
