The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) will distribute UAE flags to houses in the emirate in response to an initiative to hoist the UAE flag in solidarity with Emirati soldiers.
The initiative announced by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in September called on everyone to raise the UAE flag in their homes, farms and institutions across the country.
To show their support, DCAS said it was teaming up with Dubai Police, International Humanitarian City, Skydive Dubai and Gargash Enterprises to distribute the flags in various areas around the city.
Khalifa Bin Darri, Executive Director of the DCAS, said the initiative reflects the cohesion between the leadership, headed by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the UAE people and also commemorates the sacrifices made by the UAE heroes.
Bin Darri said that the huge response from citizens living in different parts of the UAE reflects the loyalty and strong sense of belonging that is prevalent in the UAE society.
"It echoes at the same time how proud and honoured citizens are of our armed forces and the sacrifices they have made,” said Bin Darri, adding that the UAE flag will remain flying high as the country continues to support its brothers in Yemen in the face of adversity.
There was also a huge response by many institutions who raised the UAE flag in respect of the martyrs.
Imdaad, provider of integrated facilities and waste management solutions in the GCC, hoisted and placed the UAE flag on display at its Jebel Ali offices.
They said the move recognises the important role that the UAE troops have played in creating history and the big sacrifice they are making for their country.
