Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos issued a decision on Thursday granting Egyptian Ambassador Tarek Mahmoud Qauni the Order of San Carlos in appreciation for his efforts in boosting relations between the two countries while he was in duty.
Qauni ended his line of duty as Egypt's ambassador to Colombia in August.
In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the order also comes in recognition of his efforts in setting up close relations between state institutions in the two countries.
The Colombian deputy foreign minister awarded the Egyptian diplomat the order at the Colombian ministry headquarters.
