All living veterans who fought in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression will receive recognition in the run-up to China's V-Day celebrations, it was announced Tuesday.
A circular jointly issued by the ministries of civil affairs, and finance, along with the National Health and Family Planning Commission, told their local offices to deliver consolation money or gifts to veterans.
Activities will also be held to remember the contributions veterans, including those who fought under the Kuomintang (KMT) Party, made to the nation, the circular said.
The circular also said veterans should receive medical assistance, should they need it.
A series of events have been scheduled in the run up to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II. The events will culminate in a parade on Sept. 3 in Beijing.
Earlier on Tuesday, the ministries of civil affairs and finance released another circular, announcing a one-off allowance of 5,000 yuan (802.6 U.S. dollars) to be paid to the war veterans before September.
