Algerian fashion designer, Sabira Lahmar, prepares to present her new collection at a fashion show, secheduled to be held in Dubai on June 13.
She revealed, in interview with Arabs Today, that her new collection consists of six traditional pieces. These pieces will represent different provinces of Algeria such as the province of Qanestina, east of Algiers, Tlemcen and Algiers. She will hold a meeting with the organizers to study the possibility of presenting modern pieces in the show, that will be titled "Algeria breeze in Dubai".
As for the colors that Sabira used in her collection, she explained that she mixed the black color with gold and silver in the traditional designs, indicating that she also used red, blue, turquoise and fuchsia in the modern fashion designs.
Sabira also prepares to present a group of traditional women's clothing, during the month of Ramadan with members of the Algerian community residing abroad.
She explained that her designs recieved popular inside and outside Algeria.
She added that most of the designs are inspired from Algerian heritage with some changes to fit with the current modern Algerian woman.
Sabira Lahmar, an Algerian fashion designer who is a master of fashion, has over 30 years of experience in the history of the traditional dress. She is a researcher in the traditional dress of Qanestina in Algeria, which known as the capital of suspended bridges. She is now working on her research in various clothes.
