Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
Sumia Abu-Kashawa said some quarters - which she did not name - seek to recruit university students and members of the Sudanese community in the terrorist Daesh organization.
In press statements, she called for setting roles for university political activities which - according to her - are backed by foreign quarters.
She pledged to activate cultural activities in the university in a bid to keep students away from such motivated political activities.
Daesh is an Islamic extremist terrorist organization controlling territory in Iraq and Syria, with limited territorial control in Libya and Nigeria. The group also operates or has affiliates in many other parts of the world, including Southeast Asia.
The group proclaimed itself to be a worldwide caliphate, with Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi being named its caliph.
