Egypt's Higher Education Minister Ashraf el Shehy said Sunday education is a key issue for Egypt.
In statements to MENA in London, the minister added that Egypt seeks to promote cooperation with the UK in this regard.
The Egyptian government puts education at the top of its priorities and we know that any real renaissance takes place through the development of the education system, Shehy said.
Part of this development requires benefit from the experiences of others, he added.
There is an urgent need for a serious development of the technical and technological education in Egypt, the minister affirmed.
The minister revealed that the current year marks the largest number of scholarships in Egypt's history, in implementation of directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in this regard.
Shehy arrived in London Sunday to attend the Education World Forum which opens today.
The three-day event, which is held once a year, sees a number education ministers from various countries to mull prospects of partnership and education across the world and debate future education policy.
Ministers will also discuss developing education strategies and international cooperation in this field.
