Explore Tanzania's wildlife with Safari packages Tanzania - Arabstoday Serengeti Simba Lodge recently completed construction on the Stone House, a six room unit with views to the northern Serengeti plains and Grumeti Reserves across the Grumeti River. The new unit features two spacious family rooms, each with two queen-sized beds, small entrance foyer and sitting area. One twin and three queen rooms complete the structure. Additionally two new tents were recently opened near the lodge to accommodate guests who need to be close in, bringing the total number of rooms at the lodge to twenty-one. Each room is fully solar powered for lighting and the entire hot water system of the lodge is also solar, minimizing the use of unsustainable firewood and fossil fuels. Serengeti Simba Lodge is located in the Ikona Wildlife Management Area and is situated on top of Gambasage Hill, which affords almost 360-degree views from practically everywhere on the property, including the infinity pool. The Ikona WMA is a community run wildlife and wilderness endeavor located just outside the Ft Ikoma Gate of Serengeti National Park, adjacent to the park boundary and boasting a newly opened Visitors Centre filled with interpretive exhibits explaining the histories of the Ikoma and Natta people who populate the area. The WMA allows night game drives which are conducted from the lodge. “The opening of these eight additional client accommodations completes the major building phase of this project” says Navraj Bhamra, Managing Director. “The response to the lodge has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors citing the natural stone construction, proximity to nature and simple African design and feeling of the place as enhancing their safari experience” he concludes. Serengeti Simba Lodge is open year round and is located in the path of the migrating herds of wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle. For additional information visit www.serengetisimba.com
