His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, yesterday held talks with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, on fraternal ties between the two countries and ways to enhance them, as well as latest regional developments of mutual interest.
This came when King Salman received Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanying delegation in Riyadh yesterday.
The talks, attended by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and HRH Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, reflected the deep-rooted fraternal relations founded on a solid base and a joint desire to boost the march of the GCC and to enhance capabilities to maintain its security and stability and to protect its achievements.
The two sides agreed that the current situation in the region requires continuous coordination and consultation within the GCC common framework to ensure security, stability and prosperity.
Sheikh Mohamed conveyed to King Salman greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his wishes of further progress and prosperity to the people of Saudi Arabia.
King Salman welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and his accompanying delegation. He expressed his satisfaction with the level of bilateral ties and said he was looking forward to further joint action in the interest of the two brotherly countries.
Sheikh Mohamed said the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to strengthen its special relations with Saudi Arabia, adding that the latter represents the backbone for the GCC integration under the prudent leadership of King Salman.
He praised King Salman's wise vision in dealing with current developments and his keenness on the Arab countries achieving cohesiveness and safeguarding their security and stability.
"The Kingdom and the Gulf are in safe hands, thanks to the vision and wisdom of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership," he added.
The talks covered the developments in Yemen, Syria, Iraq and Libya and the importance of coordinating regional and international counter-terrorism efforts to address different challenges, including the dangers of violence and extremism and taking a firm and decisive stand against acts of the terrorist groups which undermine regional and international security.
The two sides also agreed that the dangers and threats must be dealt with through coordination and cooperation to protect the achievements of the GCC countries.
They exchanged views on the regional developments and regarding issues of mutual interest, especially those related to opportunities for peace, security and stability in the region.
King Salman asked Sheikh Mohamed to pass on his greetings to Sheikh Khalifa and his wishes of progress and prosperity to the people of the UAE.
