Tunisian Constituent Council MP Karima Souid Tunisia - Azhar Jarboui Tunisian Constituent Council MP Karima Souid questioned the manliness of her former leftist liberal Ettakatol party leaders on Wednesday. Souid criticised what she considers their “late awakening” to discovering the reality of Ennahda ruling Islamic Movements policies. She wrote on her official Facebook page: “When I warned that the Ennahda movement does not believe in democracy, I wasn’t listened to by any leaders of the Party." Following the remarks, Ettakatol party, headed by Mustapha Ben Jaafar released a statement calling for Souid’s resignation from the National Constituent Assembly. Souid complied and responded by saying: "I saved myself from you ...You are not men." The MP won her seat in the elections of October 2011 as part of the Ettakatol party. Souid has always maintained her opposition to forming a coalition government led by Ennahda Islamic Movement. Members of the National Constituent Assembly claimed Souid announced her resignation from the party and its bloc in the constituent council due to its deviation from its initial principle of neutrality. Souid asserts that only five members of the party make the decisions, while party president and Head of the Constitutional Assembly, Mustapha Ben Jaafar fails to consult the rest of the members. She called on Jaafar to respect his vows in the Constituent Assembly to maintain a civil State and to stop supporting Ennahda – which she claims aims to establish a radical Islamic state in Tunisia.
