Turkish artillery units on Tuesday shelled Islamic State (IS) targets after two rocket projectiles hit the southeastern province of Kilis near the border with Syria, private Dogan news agency reported.
Six IS militants in northern Syria were killed in the shelling, the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces said in a statement.
The IS rocket attacks came less than a day after a similar incident killed one and wounded two in the border province.
The Turkish military and a U.S.-led coalition launched attacks on IS targets in northern Syria on Monday and destroyed multiple rocket launchers and gun positions, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Turkish artillery and four drones of the anti-IS coalition forces struck IS targets in northern Syria on Sunday, killing 34 of its militants, the agency said.
Turkey has recently been on high alert as the country has been rocked by a series of suicide and car bomb attacks that claimed many lives and wounded hundreds more.
