The managing director of a UK oil firm has been killed in a car crash. Ian Pace, of Aberdeen-based Oil States, died when his Porsche car hit a crash barrier and flipped over last night. The 46-year-old was the only person involved in the accident on the M90 near Perth. He was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the crash happened in "poor" driving conditions with heavy rain and surface water. Paying tribute to Mr Pace, his colleague Neville Gall said: "Ian was a good friend to many that worked with him at Oil States and he was also a highly-respected and capable business leader, recently promoted to the role of UK managing director. "All at Oil States are stunned by this news and our thoughts are very much with Ian's wife and family at this very difficult time." The crash happened near junction 10 of the motorway at Craigend. The silver Porsche hit the crash barrier, flipped over and came to rest on its roof. The northbound carriageway of the M90 was closed between junction 9 and 10 while a crash investigation and clean-up took place. It reopened shortly before 1am today. A Tayside Police spokesman said inquiries are going on into the circumstances of the crash and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal. Oil States works in the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as land oil and gas and the defence sectors.
