Authorities said they arrested a Miami man accused of damaging pumps at several gas stations to dispense free fuel and selling access to the pumps. Fort Piece police said Elton Carter, 27, manipulated, damaged or altered pumps at three St. Lucie County gas stations to dispense free gas in incidents beginning April 29 and would charge people to fill up their cars at the pumps, TCPalm.com reported Friday. Workers at the gas stations identified a photo of Carter as the man "running the fuel theft operation," police said. Carter was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbery, organized dealing in stolen property, communication fraud of $300 or more and third-degree grand theft.
