Ghoulam told reporters: "I am proud to wear the shirt of my country, to represent my people and my nation. Algeria has always been in the heart, and I hope to be a useful addition to the team." The 21-year old denied that he was hesitant about playing for Vahid Halilhodži?'s team, adding: "I postponed my decision to join the national team until I was sure that I would be a useful member of the team." "Ziani and Kadir said that the atmosphere within the team was great and stimulating." He wants to represent Algeria in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and 2018 World Cup in Russia.
