Pablo Aimar Lisbon - Arabstoday Argentinian midfielder Pablo Aimar has extended his contract with Benfica by a year, the Lisbon club said on Friday. The new contract will tie him to Benfica until the end of the 2012/13 season, which will take him to five years with the Portuguese side. Aimar arrived at Benfica in 2008 from Spain, where he played with Real Zaragoza and Valencia. During his time at Valencia, he won La Liga twice and the UEFA Cup once, also helping the side to a UEFA Champions League final in 2001. Aimar, speaking to Benfica TV said: "It's another happy moment in my career and life. They treat me here like I am at home and you don't get that anywhere. I feel very proud that they want me to stay here for another year. "Both parties had the intention of renewing, so it was easy." Aimar has made 14 league appearances for Benfica this season, scoring twice.
