South Korea, US agree to extend nuclear agreement

South Korea and the US have agreed to extend their current atomic energy agreement for two years. South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said the two countries signed on Tuesday the extension of the South Korea-US nuclear deal, according to Korea’s (KBS WORLD) website. The current atomic accord was established in 1974 and set to expire on Wednesday. With the two-year extension, the agreement will expire on March 19th, 2016. Seoul and Washington have held talks on revising the agreement since 2010. But the two sides remain divided on whether Seoul should be allowed to reprocess spent fuel and enrich uranium.
