The so-called Temple Mount Faithful, a radical Jewish group, has urged Jewish organisations to storm the Al Aqsa Mosque's compound on Sunday as part of a Jewish religious festival.
The Orthodox Jewish movement sent out invitations on its social media asking extremist organisations to converge on the Al Aqsa Mosque in violation of the sanctity of the compound, Islam's third holiest shrine, located in the walled Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
The pro-settlement group also asked Israeli police to ensure adequate protection to facilitate the access of Jewish settlers and extremists to the Mosque grounds to perform Talmudic prayers and rituals.
Recurrent breaches and violations of the compound's sanctity, a major flashpoint in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, have triggered clashes between Palestinian religious guards and worshippers and Israeli police, who provide escorts to ultraorthodox Jews and settlers.
