Nigerian security forces Friday killed 25 Boko Haram suspects as part of the government crackdown operation against the strongholds of the Islamist movement in the country's northeastern areas. Eyewitnesses and local media reports said the security operation came a few hours after the Boko Haram militants set up an ambush on a high way killing large numbers of drivers and passengers. Nigerian army has not issued any further information on the details of its operation against the al-Qaeda-linked group. Thousands have been killed since the group launched its uprising against the state in 2009, turning itself from a religious movement opposed to Western culture into an armed militia with links to al Qaeda's West African wing.
