Israeli Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz has endorsed a plan to link occupied East Jerusalem with settlements built on the pre-67 borders through an extension of a high-speed railway line.
The project includes the excavation of a two-kilometer-long tunnel, 80 meters deep, crossing the city from the west side entrance to the old town in the east. It is located in the Palestinian territory that has been under occupation since 1967.
At a meeting with experts from various sectors, Katz gave instructions to prepare for the initial project to reach the old town, and to build a station at the gates of the Wailing Wall.
