Groups of Israeli settlers on Wednesday forced their way into East Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound through the Bab Al-Magharebah gate, under the protection of Israeli special police.
The Islamic Awqaf Department said in a statement that Palestinian worshippers, Al-Aqsa guards as well Al-Murabetoun confronted these settlers and forced them to leave the Muslims shrine, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
Hundreds of Palestinians from Jerusalem and other parts of the West Bank participated Tuesday night in Al-Taraweeh prayers, which is performed only during the holy month of Ramadan, the statement added.
