The Israeli army forces tightened on Sunday its security measures at the no-go zone on the borders between Israel and the Gaza Strip, a security official said.
A security official in the Gaza interior ministry, who declined to unveil his identity, said the Israeli soldiers stationed at the borderline area open fire immediately at anyone who approaches the borderline area.
The Israeli soldiers shot and wounded on Sunday a 37-year-old Palestinian near the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, closed to the borders with Israel, according to medics in Gaza.
Ashraf al-Qedra, Gaza health ministry spokesman, told reporters that the wounded man was shot in his leg and was taken to the hospital and he is in stable condition.
There was no immediate Israeli comment on the incident. However, on Friday, two Palestinians were shot and wounded also at the borderline area between southern Gaza Strip and Israel.
Tightening security measures at the borderline area with the Gaza Strip came after unknown militants launched two days ago a projectile into Israel, which landed in southern Israel but caused no damages or casualties.
