A delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that arrived in Tehran on Tuesday would hold talks with Iranian officials on some unresolved issues in Tehran's controversial nuclear file.
The official news agency, IRNA, said the delegation, headed by the nuclear watchdog organization's Deputy Director for Security, Tero Varjoranta, would discuss with the local officials "practical steps for finalizing the agreements between Iran and G5+1." Spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behruz Kamalvandi told IRNA the talks would "focus on ways of finalizing the two steps out of the five steps in the agreement between Tehran and G5+1." The IAEA is reportedly seeking, essentially, to ponder Iran's scientific tests, suspected as aimed to develop nuclear arms, a charge repeatedly dismissed by the Iranian authorities.
The international agency had accused Tehran of failing to meet an August 25 deadline to provide information on five points meant to allay fears it was developing nuclear weapons.
A final agreement between the two sides could pave way for a settlement on the issue with the super powers.
