The General secretary of the Justice, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Darfur Regional Authority (DRA), Ibrahim Adam Ibrahim, has asserted seriousness of the DRA to solve the dispute erupted in the past few days between the Rezaigat and Ma'alia tribes in East Darfur State in which a number of innocent citizens in both sides were killed.
He noted in statement to SUNA that the commission has sent a delegation to East Darfur State to carry out a mediation initiative to end the dispute between the two parties, indicating that the delegation has visited Abu- Kuronka and Um-Rakoba towns in order to reactivate the document on cessation of hostilities earlier signed between the two tribes, besides holding direct negotiations to achieve peace between the disputing parties.
Ibrahim revealed that the initiative has reached positive results as the two sides affirmed the commitment to cessation of hostilities and their acceptance to the DRA initiative.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the DRA Commission for Justice, Truth and Reconciliation pointed to continuity of work to complete the second phase of the project for the counting and classification of the disputes in Darfur in the coming weeks, besides the inauguration of the work of the committees for justice and truth and reconciliation which were formed by the Chairman of the DRA in the coming stage.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Health Affairs of the DRA, Firdous Abdul-Rahman Yousif, has called on the disputing parties in East Darfur State to stick to wisdom and to put an end to the conflict.
