The US-led coalition against ISIL struck 12 targets in Syria and Iraq between 8:00 a.m. on January 5 and 8:00 a.m. on January 6 local-time, the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) said in a statement Tuesday.
In Syria, fighter and bomber aircraft carried out 10 strikes near Kobani, where "eight airstrikes destroyed 13 ISIL fighting positions and an ISIL building and damaged an ISIL building," one strike near Dawr az Zawr, which "destroyed an ISIL bunker," and one near Ar Raqqah, which "destroyed two ISIL tanks," the statement affirmed.
In Iraq, drones and attack aircraft launched two strikes; the first near Al Qaim, which "destroyed an ISIL bunker," and the second near Al Asad, which "destroyed an ISIL tactical unit, an ISIL armored vehicle and an ISIL vehicle and damaged an ISIL vehicle," the statement said.
CJTF-OIR did not reveal which partner nations participated in this series of airstrikes.
