Stuttgart - Arab Today

Kuwait's 40 years of investments in Daimler transpires successful economic partnership between the State of Kuwait and Germany, said the visiting Representative of His Highness the Amir.
This partnership explicitly reflects success of the constructive outlook of His Highness the late Amir, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, for investing financial surpluses in long-term investments for backing the next generations, said His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Amir's Representative and the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait.
His Highness the Prime Minister was speaking, late on Thursday, at a broad celebration marking 40th anniversary of Kuwait's investments in the Germany company.
Aspirations and guidelines of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, to bolster economic and business relations with Germany "come to cement and develop the relationship between the two countries," His Highness the Premier said.
"I am pleased to take part in your honorable celebration as the Representative of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may Allah protect him, marking the 40th anniversary of the investments by the State of Kuwait in the veteran company Daimler," His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak began his address at the ceremonial gathering late last night.
His Highness the Prime Minister conveyed greetings of His Highness the Amir, the State of Kuwait, as Government and people, expressing appreciation for the great efforts, exerted by Germany, to accomplish pioneering achievements witnessed by the whole world, particularly with respect of unifying Germany, strengthening its economy, in addition to the "acclaimed role of your country at the European Union level; such a role will live on in history of your country and the European continent." "Our celebration today," he stated, "is an embodiment of the concept of the successful economic partnership; it also reflects clearly success of the insightful outlook of His Highness the late Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah regarding the quest to invest financial surpluses in long-term investments so that to be used to support our next generation to cope with the future with confidence.
"Therefore, the investments in the veteran Daimler company, one of the most important companies in Germany and the world, constitute the optimum means to realize such a perspective." Moreover, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak added, the future aspirations and guidelines of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, with respect of bolstering the economic and investment relations with Germany serve the purpose of strengthening and developing the relations between the two countries.
"We celebrate today success of an economic relationship that has lasted for 40 years. Moreover, we mark the crowning of relentless efforts and the insightful outlook of the two countries' leaderships for sake of rendering the relationship between our two countries an example for relations among states," the prime minister added.
Shedding light on some aspects of this successful relationship, the prime minister noted that investments by the Public Investment Authority (PIA) in Germay have amounted to euro 14 billion, while the trade exchanges between the two countries have reached more than euro 1.5 billion, in addition to the close mutual cooperation in the health, defense and educational sectors, as well as other fields.
On basis of the abovementioned, this relationship is being bolstered in various aspects. "I would like also to assure you that the State of Kuwait is determined to press ahead with promoting the relations between the two countries to higher and wider levels and scopes for serving joint interests and the friendly peoples," he said.
He expressed gratitude to the PIA and Daimler workers for their efforts, over the past years, for cementing the mutual cooperation, signaling out in particular Abdulrahman Salem Al-Atigi and the late Khaled Sadreddinee Abulsaud for their major role in consolidating such a successful relationship. The premier also extended thanks to Daimler and wished the gigantic company further success.
The celebration was also attended by members of the delegation accompanying His Highness the Prime Mnister, Chairman of Kuwait's Chamber of Industry and Commerce Thunayan Al-Ghanem, PIA's board members, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Germany Dr. Munther Al-Ghanem and the Kuwaiti Consul in Frankfurt, Asaad Al-Bahar.
The celebration started with an address by Manfred Bischoff, the Chairman of Daimler's board of trustees, asserting that Kuwait has proven to be a very reliable partner. "We our proud of such a partner that can be relied upon and with whom we can make a bright future for our company," he said.
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, the company chairman, praised the PIA for its full support over the past years.
Gأ¼nther Oettinger, the deputy chairman of the European Commission for energy affairs, praised the cooperation with Daimler and the Kuwaiti leadership for its purposeful policy of sound investments of oil proceeds.
