Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdulmohsen Al-Madaj has revealed that the Ministry's commercial control dept. was directed to identify its campaigns to control prices of construction materials and other commodities at the market.
Some companies are raising prices of their commodities under the pretext that the government will cut diesel subsidy. In statements to KUNA here on Thursday Al-Madaj said that the pretext to raise prices is unjustifiable, noting that diesel subsidy cut will not apply on local factories.
He added that the current drop in oil prices across the globe confirms that there are no real causes for increasing prices of construction materials.
The minister emphasized that the department will survey the companies that raised their prices to take legal steps against them and refer them to prosecution.
He underlined that the ministry is keen to fix prices of construction materials not to add any burdens on the citizens.
