Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hisham Ramez said the Gulf deposits, which amount to 6 billion dollars, will be delivered to Egypt within 10 days.
In statements to MENA correspondent in Kuwait during his participation in the annual meetings of the Arab finance organizations, Ramez said Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates pledged assistance to Egypt of 2 billion dollars each during last month economic conference in Sharm el-Sheikh in th form of deposits with the central bank to back the national economy.
Ramez said that Egypt's annual imports of goods are estimated at 60 billion dollars, adding the funds come either through the transfer of money of Egyptians abroad or Suez Canal revenues or tourism.
