The government purchased 543, 000 tons of wheat from local farmers so far, according to the agriculture minister.
Salah Helal was speaking during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
He added that imported fertilizers would be funneled in the market to meet the growing needs.
For his part, Supply Minister Khaled Hanafy said 55,000 tons of meat were imported from Sudan and would be available at the markets before the holy month of Ramadan for EGP 40 per Kilo.
