Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications, Mohammad Momani, said on Tuesday the Jordanian political will has developed the local media sector to enable it to convey its message, which upholds the true national values and the country's unity.
Such a strategy, he said, had played a key role in strengthening the internal front and keeping Islamic and pan-Arab issues on top of the media's agenda.
In a lecture he delivered to the master degree students at the Royal Police Academy, Momani said that the 2011-2015 media strategy comes in line with the Royal directives that ensure that the media embrace the Jordanian state's message, freely and professionally.
The minister emphasized that the media's content should be such that it abhors violence, advocates peace and stability, respects human rights, asserts pluralism and enhances dialogue among nations, civilizations and religions.
Momani added that the national media strategy adopted the religious discourse, which reflects the true image of Islam as a faith of tolerance open to other civilizations and cultures.
It also calls for the strengthening of the religious spirit and cross-cultural and inter-civilizational dialogue while rejecting extremism and intolerance, he added.
