In an interview with Arab Today, Egyptian actress Wafaa Amer stated that she will not be participating in any Ramadan dramas, stressing that her priority will be her son. The actress affirmed that she will be taking time out to spend with her 11-year-old son Omar during the Islamic festival, calling on other parents to "put family first." Wafaa also spoke about the criticism her sister, Ayten, received for her role in the television drama, The Second Wife. She expressed her astonishment over early critics who have issued their ruling before even watching the new series, stressing that it is "different from the first show." The Egyptian superstar also refuted criticism certain directors have received for reproducing old Egyptian films into television series. Wafaa believes that it is vital to show such work as it "reflects the current social issues witnessed in the Egyptian community."
