The Sudanese Ministry of Culture is today mourning the death of Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, who has died in Jordan. The Sudanese media has halted broadcasting to highlight the importance of the singer, who was a pillar of the Sudan artisticscene. Mahmoud worked alongside many prominent poets and composers, as well as contributing to a number of national celebrations. He was also heavily involved in developing the talents of children through a specialised association that he formed and sponsored. The prominent singer was moved to Jordan as his fans awaited news from the hospital he was being treated in, Ibn al-Haytham. Jordanian physician Jamal Al-Arda said Aziz’s EEG had revealed bleeding in a large part of his brain. He explained that Mahmoud was suffering from a failure of his blood to clot within the arteries, causing internal bleeding.
