Jennifer Lawrence has always been outspoken about her anti-dieting ways and discontent with Hollywood's unrealistic standards for women, but the Academy Award-winning actress took her criticism even further stating that gluten-free diets where "the new cool eating disorder, the 'basically I just don't eat carbs' [diet]."
The Hunger Games star allegedly made the comments while interviewing for the November issue of Vanity Fair -- the cover story where she accused hackers who stole intimate pictures from her iCloud account of committing a "sex crime."
Although the actress' jovial attitude is often praised as down to earth and sincere, her comments on gluten were not as well received by social media users who know that going gluten-free is not always a choice.
Um excuse me Jennifer Lawrence but gluten free "bad" diets are necessary for certain people's health! You deal with celiac symptoms bitch.— Katie (@HockeyBelle89) October 15, 2014
jennifer lawrence said the gluten-free diet is basically "the new cool eating disorder" and lol ok she lost me completely— sandra (@lulaplume) October 15, 2014
Jennifer Lawrence has a point, but only to a point. Gluten-free isn't a fad if you have celiac disease, as I do. https://t.co/I6yovOOStc— David Jack (@TheLogicJunkie) October 14, 2014
Gluten is not carbs. Educate yourself. It is powerful. http://t.co/KnUaR87TjP— Colleen (@smokysultana) October 14, 2014
Lawrence's comments have also been perceived by many as a diss toward Gwyneth Paltrow, her rumored boyfriend Chris Martin's stranged wife, who is a longtime advocate of the protein composite.
