The projects were chalked out as per the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to alleviate the suffering of the victims of the floods that devastated Pakistan last year. The directorate of the UAE project to help Pakistan announced that a total of 64 projects for distribution of drinking water has been completed. The projects include digging of wells, establishment of water purification stations and construction of pipelines to carry drinking water into around 64 villages in various provinces in Pakistan at a total cost of $6 million (Dh22 million).
