A list containing the names of business owners that sold food stuffs before the completion of mandatory laboratory tests has been released. Stringent measures were taken by Dr Fadhel Safar, Minister of Public Works and Municipality and the Director General Ahmad Al-Subaih to contain the harmful practice. Istiqlal Al-Musallam Director of Imported Food Department at Kuwait Municipality said that preventive inspection team confiscated a large quantity of sweets after results showed that they contained the banned E124 food coloring. Meanwhile, Ahmad Al-Attar , the Follow up and Inspection Department Director said that the team confiscated 4.8 tons of spoiled food which did not contain expiry date labels. The team also issued three citations for operating a store without obtaining licenses from the Municipality, in addition to repackaging food items and transferring them to several stores.
