A sit-in took place on Saturday in front of the "Eden Rock" Project at Ramlet el-Baida, in protest against taking control of maritime properties, organized by the National Youth Union and People's Aid, with the participation of Beirut citizens and representatives of civil associations.
Protesters held out banners which read: "Our coast belongs to us and not to the brutal capitalism!" - "Beirut beach is for the people, not for the corrupted class, you exploitation monsters!" and "Interior Ministry is required to implement the State Shoura Council decision."
Protesters also chanted slogans calling on the Interior Minister and Beirut Governor not to neglect and waste maritime properties.
In turn, Lebanese People's Congress Head, Kamal Shatila, addressed a word of praise to the protesters, stressing that "this sit-in is part of the popular action against the corruption of the ruling class, supported by large-scale banks and savage capitalist companies, which violate the laws without any national or religious deterrent."
