The State of Qatar paid a forceful tribute to Tunisia for its success in holding free, transparent and credible elections, expressing hope that the Tunisian people will manage to build a modern civil state. In a statement issued on Friday by the Office of the Prince in Doha, the Emir, Government and People of Qatar extend their heartfelt congratulations to the Tunisian people "on the very honourable achievement," reflected in the organisation of free, transparent and credible elections to elect members of the National Constituent Assembly. Qatar also congratulates the winning parties for the good running of their campaign, their political maturity and their commitment to entrench the principles of multi-partism and democracy, to preserve the gains of the Tunisian people and reject extremism and fanaticism. According to the same statement, the Tunisian people expressed, through these elections, their will to achieve their legitimate claims and reiterated their attachment to multi-partism and national unity.
