The directives given by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa while chairing yesterday’s regular weekly Cabinet session to set up a new integrated community centre that serves villagers across the Northern Governorate have been lauded by the Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan.
The gesture reflects HRH Premier’s keen interest in following up on the citizens’ living conditions and in meeting their needs regarding development projects, he said.
The minister said that the Labour and Social Development Ministry had already started taking the necessary procedures to implement the project in Budaiya, in line with HRH the Prime Minister’s directives to meet the needs of the Northern Governorate’s villages, particularly Duraz, Bani Jamra, Budaiya, Saar, Karrana, Abu Saiba, Al-Markh, Al-Shakhoora, Sadad and Al-Qadam.
The new centre, the minister said, aims to promote cultural awareness in fields that are closely related to the citizens’ life in the Northern Governorate.
It will also empower low-income individuals and families, and deliver social assistance, family guidance, family development programmes, as well as programmes for children, in cooperation with the civil society.
The BD 1.4-million project will be built on a total area of 25227 square metres, and will serve 550 citizens daily.
The project will be supported by Alimunum Bahrain (Alba), implemented by the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry and managed by the Labour and Social Development Ministry.
The new facility in Budaiya will add to the other community centres across the Northern Governorate, including the Jidhafs (built in 2006) and Hamad Town (built in 1992) ones.
