March 14 forces on Wednesday maintained that it was no more acceptable for the political power in Lebanon to remain under the command of a regional front. As deploring what they termed as the "wretched" situation within the Mikati-led government, the forces said it was high time for this political power to go. March 14 General Secretariat convened today in its weekly periodic meeting in Ashrafieh, where it noted that the state was now undergoing an in-a-row deterioration. The forces did not fail to blast Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, for his comments on the discourses of March 14 figures during last week's rally marking the 7th anniversary of Rafik Hariri assassination in BIEL. Besides, a closing statement issued in the wake of the meeting echoed the forces' cordial welcoming of the "Friends of Syria" meeting. "The forces see this meeting as an important stage to develop the Arab-regional-international support for the Syrian people and uprising, as well as to bolster the acknowledgement of the Syrian opposition especially the Syrian National Council," the statement read. A Western and Arab-backed contact group is scheduled to meet in Tunisia on Friday to lobby for gleaning international support for the Syrian opposition. Lebanon will not attend the meeting in compliance with the disassociation policy the Lebanese government had agreed to adopt vis-a-vis the 11-month crisis in Syria.
