Raising the theme "Heritage – Structure and Denotation", the 15th edition of Sharjah Heritage Days is set to commence on 4th April at the Heritage Area, in the heart of Sharjah. The event will run up to 22nd April in all the cities and regions of the emirate.
The Republic of Malta will be the Guest of Honour of Sharjah Heritage Days this year. Organised by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, this year’s annual celebration of local heritage, folklore and culture, is open to residents and tourists to explore all aspects of Emirati, GCC, MENA region and international culture.
Celebrating the UAE traditions, Sharjah Heritage Days is a cultural event within a lively, vivacious and entertaining atmosphere. Visitors to the Heritage Village can buy handicrafts, hear folklore legends and explore and enjoy the colourful folk performances.
Sharjah Heritage Days is an international event in the spring of every year that oversees fun-filled activities, knowledge and entertainment with emphasis of heritage practices. The cultural event also includes a variety of activities, seminars and competitions, with a number of Emirati, Arabic, Islamic and international agencies and organisations collaborating and participating.
Commenting on the event, Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of Sharjah Institute for Heritage and Chairman of the Higher Committee of Sharjah Heritage Days, said, "It is a pleasure to be able to host the 15th edition of the Sharjah Heritage Days. H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has extended his support and cooperation to the cultural event since its commencement.
"The event is a great platform to introduce UAE, GCC, Mena Region and international customs and traditions to our new generation, while bringing a sense of fulfilment and nostalgia for the people who have lived for long in the country. It is a testament of the Emirate’s modern, yet grounded traditions and reflects the country’s cultural values. The cultural event has not only been listed as a global event, but is known to attract millions from all over the world."
