Lebanon's President Michel Aoun called Wednesday for the full implementation of international obligations, stressing the importance of the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, saying that "its implementation should equally be everyone's concern."
According to the National News Agency (NNA), Aoun's remarks came during the regular cabinet meeting held at Baabda Presidential Palace and Prime Minister Saad Hariri echoed these sentiments.
Resolution 1701 was unanimously approved on Aug. 11, 2006, in an effort to end the 33-day devastating war between Israel and Hezbollah.
One of the key points of the resolution was the total disarmament of Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias.
