Aswan Governor Magdy Hegazy decided on Monday to refer the incident of the partial collapse of an apartment building in central Aswan to the public prosecution to stand on reasons behind the collapse.
Eight persons were injured in a partial collapse of a five-storey building in Aswan's El Sheikh Haroun area earlier in the day.
The prosecution will examine whether there were any building violations or any wrongdoing in the building license that might have caused the partial collapse.
The governor also decided to form an engineering committee to examine the technical situation of the building.
He also ordered the immediate evacuation of three adjacent buildings, the closure of gas pipelines in the area and a manual retrieval of residents' belongings to preserve them.
All residents of the building were rescued.
