In response to the royal will, and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Government Restructuring Committee convened here today, under the chairmanship of Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
Committee members, including deputy premiers, and some ministers and senior officials, attended.
The committee chairman reviewed a number of visions and proposals that achieve the government's goals to increase the productivity and efficiency of its action according to complementary coordination that is capable of implementing the government's programmes and development goals.
This can be achieved by creating an effective government apparatus that avoids duplicated work, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak said, noting that the large size of the government is neither effective to address economic challenges, nor consistent with the government's vision to rationalise expenditure.
The deputy premier asserted that the Government Restructuring Committee will hold weekly meetings to study the options and proposals submitted during the first meeting, and requested some parties to provide details and recommendations about them.
The committee members agreed to implement the restructuring project according to stages, executive programmes and schedule that achieves the government's goals, and take the interests of the citizens into account.
