Information Minister and Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi stressed that good citizenship based on the fundamentals of belonging to the nation, allegiance to the leadership and belief in national unity is one of the main pillars of progress of the nations and protection of their unity and achievements.
The Information Minister was speaking as he patronised today the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between BIPD and Watani Al Emarat Foundation at the Information Ministry premises. The signing was attended by BIPD Acting Executive Director Anwar Ahmed and the foundation's Director General Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi.
The Information Minister hailed the memo, stressing the importance of partnership between the GCC national institutions in fostering the Arab and Islamic cultural identity and promoting the GCC citizenship. He also emphasised the need to raise social awareness of the rights and duties of citizenship within the framework of respecting the constitution, law and public order and maintaining the fundamentals of the modern civil state. He pointed out, in this context, the importance of peaceful expression of opinion, promotion of tolerance and co-existence among all social components and renunciation of discourse inciting extremism, fanaticism, hatred, division and loyalty to other countries.
The Information Minister underlined the importance of holding on to the values and duties of good citizenship to overcome challenges and threats facing the Arab and Islamic nation. He described adherence to the values of good citizenship as the separating line between the modern and civilized civil state which is governed by the law and institutions and the failed state of civil wars and sectarian divisions.
The Information Minister asserted that the GCC countries, thanks to the wise leadership of their leaders and awareness of their people, have been able to build their personal capabilities on the path of sustainable growth by ensuring equality between citizens and boosting the safety of their internal front through a GCC system that is interconnected politically, economically and militarily.
Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi thanked the Information Minister for his keenness on boosting cooperation between both sides and exchanging experiences so as to promote the GCC culture identity and highlight achievements at regional and international for a.
