Head of the parliamentary delegation taking part in the international conference on Principles of Friendship and Cooperation in Asia, currently held in the Indonesian city of Solo, Dr. Salah Ali reviewed with the participating delegates the efforts being exerted by the kingdom and its initiatives to promote security and stability nationwide, which, he said, reflects its keen desire to continue its pioneering democratic march and build on it to bring about more achievements. He also highlighted the incessant reform and democratic steps taken by the kingdom for the aim of consolidating the principles of human rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the National Action Charter out of the belief that protection of human rights is an essential prerequisite for setting up a balanced society in which all citizens enjoy basic rights. In this context, Dr. Salah Ali held separate meetings with heads of Cambodian, Turkish, Bangladeshi delegations, as well as the former Indonesian Shura Council Speaker and gave them an update on the situation in the kingdom, shedding light on the positive outcome of the National Consensus Dialogue and the measures taken so far to achieve justice and ensure the safety and security of the citizens and expatriates, including His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s initiatives to set up the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) and the National Victims’ Compensation Fund benefiting victims of the recent events. Heads of the delegations appreciated the measures taken by the kingdom, asserting that they reflected Bahrain’s strong resolve to overcome the challenges posed by the regretful incidents and resume the reform and development marches whose dividends will be reaped by all.
