Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi has attended the opening session of the fifth edition of the Global Education Forum (GEF) themed: “Teaching and Learning in the Knowledge and Technology Era” and the Gulf Educational Supplies Exhibition, held under the auspices of the UAE Vice-President, Premier and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum and in the presence of Arab and Foreign Educational officials, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, with the participation of over 100 educational expert and 250 world companies specialized in educational technology. During the inaugural session, UAE Minister of Education Humaid Mohammed Al Qattami delivered a statement in which he asserted that "education helps build a better future for the individual, the society and humanity in general. It is also one of the crucial pillars of building human capital and the key to development. Innovation has become a platform for quality education that is able to respond to challenges, whereas technology is the distinct intelligent method to achieve strategic objectives." He also pointed out that the use of modern techniques is an index of the quality of the educational process and whether it meets the requirements of human development and those of the labour market. Then, the first work paper, entitled "Mobile Learning," was presented by Head of Innovation at Tribal Company Geoff Stead who shed light on the latest innovations in this regard and their uses in the educational field. Then, Member of Shura Council and Head of Masarat Group for Research Development Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Al Awwad presented a research paper entitled: "Social Media for Learning: Back to Societal Education" in which called for the need to take advantage of social media networks in teaching, learning and promoting knowledge members of society. It is worth noting that the forum featured various lectures and workshops, run by educational practitioners from all over the world.
