Human Rights and Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima bint Mohammed Al-Balooshi met Tunisian Human Rights and Transitional Justice Minister Samir Dilou and discussed ways promoting bilateral relations. The meeting was on the sidelines of the 19th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC). Dr. Al-Balooshi outlined human rights developments in the Kingdom, citing the establishment of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI), thus setting a unique precedent in the whole Arab World. She underscored the executive steps undertaken to implement the (BICI) recommendations, reaffirming Bahrain’s resolve to carry out the recommendations towards anchoring human rights and cementing national unity. Mr. Dilou minister welcomed bilateral cooperation in the framework of solid ties bonding both countries, stressing Tunisia’s resolve to promote human rights in the aftermath of its revolution. He reaffirmed his country’s stance in support of Bahrain to implement the (BICI) recommendations, lauding the Kingdom’s decision to set up the probe panel. Dr. Al-Balooshi also met Mauritanian Commissioner for human rights and relations with civil society institutions Mohamed Ould Abdallah Ould Khatra and Mauritanian Permanent Representative and Head of the Arab Group Sheikh Ahmed Ould Zahaf. Talks focused issues featuring on the agenda of the 19th (UNHRC) session and the need to coordinate pan-Arab stances. Dr. Al-Balooshi thanked the Mauritanian officials for promoting human rights issues and supporting Bahrain. The Mauritanian Commissioner reaffirmed his country’s support for Bahrain, hailing ongoing reforms in the Kingdom. He pointed out that he would update his Government on Bahrain’s pioneering steps to implement the (BICI) recommendations. Dr. Al-Balooshi gave an update on the Government’s commitment to implement the recommendations.
