The Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, DMAT, has recently hosted the prestigious World Roads Association, PIARC, Executive Committee at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr.
The meeting, which was attended by over 50 senior road administration managers from around the world, marks the inauguration of the new President and a new PIARC Executive Committee.
"We are looking forward to hosting the World Congress in 2019 and positively engaging with government administrations from around the globe," said Eng. Ahmed Salem Alhammadi, PIARC Executive Committee member and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi World Roads Congress 2019 Committee (ADOC).
PIARC continues to pursue the goals identified at the first international Road Congress, held in Paris in October 1908. Its next congress, the 26th, will be held in Abu Dhabi, from October 6-10, 2019. It will be the first PIARC World Congress to be held in the Middle East.
"The World Road Association is delighted to hold its next meetings in Abu Dhabi, at the invitation of DMAT. We are also looking forward to staging a successful world congress in the capital of the UAE in 2019," said Patrick Mallejacq, the Secretary General of PIARC.
