President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has issued two presidential decrees on pardon measures for the detainees on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of independence, said Wednesday a statement from the presidency of the Republic. "To mark the 50th anniversary of national independence and in accordance with the powers conferred upon him under Article 77-9 of the Constitution, President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, has issued two presidential decrees respectively on collective pardon measures s for the benefit of non-definitively convicted detainees and prisoners," the statement said. These pardon measures also concern "definitively convicted prisoners participating in education or vocational training and successfully passed, during incarceration, of middle, secondary education and university examinations and the different modes of training.” "However, the statement said, do not benefit from these measures, inmates sentenced for crimes related to those mentioned in the order to implement the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation, and inmates convicted of committing or attempting to commit certain specifically listed acts, including acts of terrorism ".
