Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al Dossari today chaired, at the General Court of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in the presence of a number of officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the second follow-up meeting on the preparation of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s report on Child Rights and Rights of Persons with disabilities.
During the meeting, Al Dossari outlined what has been reached in preparing the report and the extent of care accorded by the Kingdom of Bahrain to childhood, saying that it emanates from the high interest given to it by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the wise government.
He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain joined in 1991 the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1989.
The Kingdom of Bahrain, he explained, has adopted the National Strategy for Childhood 2013-2017 in continuation of its ongoing efforts to safeguard child rights and enhance childhood, the fact that culminated into the birth of Children’s Law (37) for the year 2012.
He praised the tremendous efforts exerted by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs and the job well-done by the the work team in charge of preparing the two reports as well as the efforts of the the Childhood Committee, which all pour into the maintenance of the Kingdom’s excellence in the protection of children’s rights, notably those of the disabled who enjoy all human rights as per the best international standards.
